| | Anime north weekend was a blast... as usual. This following entry is a really long post, about my whole weekend, so stop reading now if you have no patience!
This year we stayed at the Radisson hotel, which was great because we didn't have to walk over the highway overpass and have our hair blow all over the place before we can reach the convention center. I had booked it almost a year beforehand, which I guess I will do again for next year!
We were wondering how the hotel would be before we went in. I was honestly expecting one room, with two beds, tv, and love-seat crammed in, and another room with the washroom.
Instead, we got a suite!!! When we walked in, we were greet with a semi- long hallway (for a standard hotel), followed by a living room with a couch (which folds out to be a bed), a loveseat, a desk, and a tv.
On the wall on the left side, which you don't see until you finish walking through the hallway, there was a sink, coffee maker, and fridge in the cupboard. Then, there were two other doorways.
One connected to the room which contained two double beds and another tv, and the other doorway opened up to a dressing area with a mirror, sink, and closet area. This dressing area was also accessible from the bedroom. From the dressing room, there was a doorway to the bathroom.
I did not expect a suite, at least not for the discount price we paid!!! I was so happy we got it though, it was a great start to an amazing weekend!
In the hotel, we met up with our photographer friend and two of my friends friends who I met for the first time. We checked out the convention program, which I thought was hilarious!
There were events named "how to get a con gf" and "hentai 101" and "doll pyschology and identity". I honestly don't know what the last one is about, but it is about the con-goers who hold life-like dolls around and dress them up.
This was the second year in a row that I got a really flattering compliment from a kid. He said, "wow, you're soooo beautiful." It was in the elevator when we were heading down. There's just something about the naivety of little children when they look up at you like you are some sort of disney princess, that makes me feel warm and gushy inside.
Instead of dressing up as a specific character. I wore a magenta wig (although it looks pink) and a headband with wings on it (which I made myself). I received a lot of compliments about the wings, apparently they are very cute! My friend helped me chop off the wig, and in the end, it didn't look bad at all! I think, I'm going to make it even shorter later on!
It was my first year wearing a wig, and I have to say, it is quite uncomfortable if it doesn't fit your head. However, I heard of people getting hard red bumps where the wigcap band rests, I was expecting to experience that, but fortunately, it was completely fine!!!
I saw a lot of old friends and met some new ones. The level of cosplay seemed to have gotten better this year, and I can't help but wonder why. Maybe China is cranking them out cheaper?
In the dealers room, I was invited to do a photoshoot by Droo, a photographer. He asked if the photos could be used for a magazine that might be coming out called Kawaii magazine. He had a backdrop and lighting setup in the dealers room, and it was fun for the brief while that it went on.
Also, right beside his setup, was a store carrying the large banana plushie, and I fell in love with it instantly! I haggled the price down like a true asian and was incredibly happy.
After the photo-shoot, one of the nearby con-attenders stopped me and said, "I remember you from last year! You're the girl with the golden armor!" I was so surprised and flattered that he remembered me!
While exploring the convention, we passed by the sun-room of the Doubletree hotel, and inside, there were a lot of people sitting down, watching a bunch of girls dressed in maid costumes do a little dance. After, the girls introduced themselves with very adorable actions attached. I wanted to experience having tea in that room! But unfortunately, we had something to do, and it wasn't going on the second day anymore. Apparently, a friend I knew was running it, he was one of the waiters.
There was this one particular anbu Kakashi that was supremely hot. His hair was amazing... and he was wearing converse, and it was just... really good. The Kakashi also came with a team consisting of Kiba, Sakura, and two other ANBU. His hair was incredibly well done. I took a lot of photos of them, all at different time of the convention.
The last time I asked him, he asked me, "Didn't you already take a photo of me?" Haha, it was really funny, but I still wanted a photo with him.
I just find that the idea of ANBU is amazingly hot. The very first cosplay I ever did was ANBU. I continued seeing ANBU every single year, and I would always find at least one hot one. I also have a thing for well-done Kakashis, so this year was a plus for me!
We spent saturday night eating and watching anime. We watched Ouran Host Club for some part of the night before I went to sleep. Also caught a bit of 007, Casino Royal, which is by far, my most favourite James Bond movie.
I bought 6 volumes of the manga, "Wild Ones" which I still have not read yet.
On sunday morning, we got ready, checked out and had lunch at Mama's Panino. Then, we did a photo-shoot with a photographer we met two years back. He does an awesome job. We walked around a bit more and then went home.

We saw a really amazing final fantasy cosplay that day, there was a motorcycle involved. I don't know the names of the characters, but some of it was really good.
I also had a lot of people ask me what anime/manga I was from, to which I answered I was an original character. I guess a wig and headband is also considered cosplay, even if you do not dress up for the occasion.
I want to write more, but I'm so tired now. I think I will sleep. This update is a bit late as anime north was last week, but I had exam and project due this past week, so it was extremely busy! Forgive my lack of updating recently!
